Elite Eight Voting – 2025 Eras Bracket

Eight of the Most Elite Teams Remain, and You Choose Who the Final Four Critical Care Trials are for the 2025 Eras Bracket.

The Elite Eight in the 2025 Eras Bracket is filled with landmark, practice-changing articles in 4 different decades.
Similar to the 2025 NCAA tournament, the high seeds have dominated the tournament so far (except the 2020’s region of course).

VOTE, VOTE, VOTE now: Elite Eight voting ballot

1900’s Region

This region has been setting up for this #1 vs. #2 showdown
#1 NINDS had the biggest blowout victory in the Sweet Sixteen over #4 ISIS-2 (The start of my bracket being completely busted)
#2 TRICC also won fairly easily over the #3 LMWH v UFH VTE prophylaxis in trauma

1900’s Elite Eight Matchup:

#1 NINDS v.
#2 TRICC
The Ultimate Thrombolytic v Transfusion Threshold Throwdown

2000’s Region

Our closest matchup from the Sweet Sixteen, was a buzzer beating finish with #2 ARDSNet Low Tidal Volume BARELY beating the #3 Awakening & Breathing trial
On the other side of the bracket, the #1 Rivers EGDT didn’t have as hard of a time, easily defeating #5 VASST

Again, the #1 and #2 seeds facing off.
Both published in 2000, these trials set the stage for critical care throughout the decade. But we only still routinely use one today, will that matter?

#1 Rivers EGDT v.
#2 ARDSNet Low Tidal Volume
“Goal Directed v. Lung Protective”

2010’s Region

Our first upset of the Sweet Sixteen occurred in the 2010’s Region, but may have been an upset by seed alone, because #3 CRASH-2 cruised (pun intended) to an easy victory over #2 ESETT.
Similarly, #1 SOAP II crushed their opponent #4 PROSEVA

Setting up a matchup of two of the most well-known trials in critical care history.

2010’s Elite Eight Matchup

#1 SOAP II v.
#3 CRASH-2
“The Sepsis v. Trauma Showdown”

2020’s Region

The Region of Chaos continues with upsets in each Sweet Sixteen matchup.
#8 DEXA-ARDS continues it’s cinderella run, getting a single-digit victory against #5 AcT.
#6 MENDS2 took an early lead and never looked back in an easy win over #2 ACORN.

2020’s Elite Eight Matchup
